PURPOSES OF HMI
HMI began with the purpose of training and preparing leaders who know the Lord and His ways. At HMI students also learn the importance of submitting to their local church and offering their lives for its edification.
In the early Church, the fellowship of the saints depended upon mutual love and respect based on God's presence in their lives. There were no denominational boundaries for maintaining unity and order. A mighty manifestation of supernatural authority was evident in the lives of the spiritual leaders of the congregation. That authority was the foundation of a spiritual government and stability for the Church. Along with this divine authority there was a precious manifestation of the nature and character of Christ in the lives of the leaders. Therefore, the whole Church acknowledged in those men a God-given ministry and gladly submitted to that ministry. HMI seeks the presence of the Holy Spirit so that Hebron Ministries is able to experience the same foundation of fellowship and unity found in the early Church. This requires a work in (remove both) the teachers as well as the students.
For English-speakers who want to study the Bible and also to learn Spanish, attending the Institute is an excellent way to do both. This is especially beneficial for those who have a call to the mission field in a Spanish-speaking country. Being part of the Institute can be a very effective way to learn Spanish for three reasons: 1) the student is living in the culture with Spanish-speaking students, 2) a good number of courses are given in English and translated into Spanish so the student hears both languages, and 3) the student can also obtain one-on-one Spanish tutoring when not in class. Of course, this last option requires an additional expense.
The purposes of HMI can be summarized in the following points:
- To help God’s people find a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ
A believer is able to enter into true life, joy and peace only if he or she learns to know the Lord Jesus Christ in an intimate and personal way.
Jesus said: "And this is life eternal: that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent" (Jn. 17:3).
- To prepare leaders for the coming harvest
Very soon God’s glory will fill His Church in a way never seen before. That long-awaited harvest spoken of in James 5:7 is drawing nigh. Hebron Ministries is conscious that both God’s calling and His preparation are essential for those who will be leaders in this visitation and harvest. The irresistible presence of God will soon bring down every obstacle and hindrance that hold back the mighty river He has promised to His Church. May we be ready for that day! - To lift and clarify our spiritual vision
We trust that those who come to HMI with a desire to seek the Lord and search His Word for truth will end up with a higher and clearer vision of the Lord Jesus Christ and what He has in store for His people. The goal of such a vision is that a greater desire to run towards the Lord will be birthed in each student's heart. Where there is a God-given vision people run after God. In Habakkuk 2:2, the Lord commanded the prophet to "write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it."
